Targeted Behavioral Design Assessment for improved Maternal, Infant and Young Child Feeding Nutrition (MIYCN)

Situation

The USAID Nawiri program aimed to reduce acute malnutrition in Kenya’s arid regions, addressing persistent issues despite prior investments. It focused on community-based interventions to improve nutrition in children under 5 years.

Assignment

Key assignments included conducting an in-depth literature review, facilitating co-creation workshops with stakeholders, and implementing a targeted design assessment to test and refine interventions.

Approach

The approach combined literature review, co-creation workshops, and targeted design assessments. It sought to identify intervention gaps, understand socio-economic dynamics, and develop actionable insights through community and stakeholder engagement.

Results

Outcomes featured the development of insights and recommendations, validation of interventions in workshops, and creation and transfer of prototypes for implementation, aiming to effectively address malnutrition challenges.
